Detangle Curly/wavy frizzy/messy hair? Wet combing vs Dry combing

The most common issue with any curly girl with messy hair, is Detangling/combing HAIR!

You must have experienced, when it comes to detangling/combing frizzy curly hair.
Ahh, gosh..! it pains like anything!

It's a task to detangle dry curly hair. BUT, this post is about how to detangle your curly, frizzy hair.

Firstly, you should never comb your dry hair. Why?
Unlike Straight hair, curly hair cannot stay together when its combed dry. It can frizz up more. Always avoid combing dry hair.
Also never comb hair on daily basis, but only on your Hair wash day.

But, if I can't comb my hair when it's dry?
Should I comb my hair when it is wet?
Yes, that is preferred. Its easy to detangle your hair when it is wet and soft. But, Just wetting hair with water is not enough.

Don't pull your hair when it is Wet!

To soften your hair, you can do the following:
Before going to wash your hair, you can get some water in a spray bottle & add your favorite (silicone free) conditioner in it.
Spray this creamy water mixed with a conditioner on your hair & comb your hair.

1) Part your hair in sections. If you have long, thick hair, part in 4-5 sections. Its easy to comb & detangle hair when parted in multiple sections
2) Take one section, smooth it with hands from roots to ends
3) Spray the mixture (water + conditioner) on this hair section
4) take hair ends in palms, make sure your hair are soft thanks to the conditioner in it. Smooth your ends
5) slowly start combing the ends. Then go to the middle of the section, & comb through ends. Patience is the key
6) If you feel hair are not soft enough, apply some conditioner on the part where it's difficult to comb through. This always works.

WET hair is usually weak, fragile & prune to breakage, so it may happen that this Wet Combing hair might not suit everyone.
In this case, you can comb your Dry, but Oiled hair :)

My favorite options when it comes to combing DRY hair.

1) Warm your favorite (silicone free, mineral oil free) hair oil using double boiler method. You can also use blend of oils. Refer DIY Oil blend/mixes here.
- Don't heat the oil directly. Refer this article here
- Apply this lukewarm oil on your scalp & hair length. Don't forget the ends.

2) Use a Desi ghee or Hair butter
- Use a lukewarm/normal (Avoid cold) Pure Desi ghee/butter. Apply this, & keep it overnight. Champi works best with ghee. This smooths down the frizz in the morning & hair become soft enough to comb before washing hair
